I have no idea what made me think of it but I remember talking to a Panasonic rep last year and him showing me the folder where the cellular profiles are made. If I inserted the original SIM, it would connect no problem. I knew when I would put an AT&T SIM in a toughbook that already had a working SIM, or any other SIM for that matter, (in this case, a Verizon SIM) it wouldn't connect with the error message I stated above. We're in the process of trying AT&T SIMS in our toughbooks, specifically FirstNet. UPDATE: I discovered something even further yesterday: When that was setup, I pxe booted the CF-31 and again am happy to say Windows is now managing the SIM!
To prove my point even further about me saying it was a driver issue, we setup a different task sequence that still uses our main image but we completely bypassed any drivers being installed. After Windows was installed, I was beyond happy to see Windows was managing the SIM connection! Yesterday was a slower day for me so I re-imaged on of our CF31's using a bootable win10 flash drive. Even though after the image was complete, I would uninstall (even used Revo Uninstaller to make sure all registry entries are gone as well) and reinstall the driver(s) but absolutely nothing I did worked. We used SCCM for our images and during the driver installation stage, it must have been installing a wrong driver.
Good luck.įunny story about this: I actually just got it figured out yesterday (4/29/19). Everything was working correctly after that. Searching for correct drivers from the drop down menus turned up newer drivers. For some reason that would give me an outdated driver. I didn't use the drivers under "Wireless WAN Drivers" heading. Then I updated BIOS, chipset, and wwan drivers (from Panasonic website under Communication Network: ).
Panasonic support on the phone found I had incorrect code under optional kits in BIOS. I had issues on Toughbook cf-54 with SIM first working, but only picking up 3G, then not working at all after driver updates. I have opened a case with Panasonic support but to say they have been slacking on responding to me (Been over 2 weeks since I last heard anything and I have sent several follow up emails) is an understatement.Īm I missing something? Has anyone else here seen or have had this problem?
If I install Skylight, the toughbook WILL connect. However, I installed the driver they recommended (Build4368) but I am still unable to get Windows to manage the connection. It also states clearly that if you install their recommended driver, I would NOT need to use Skylight to connect.
Straight on Panasonic's site, it says to install a specific version of the driver. Reconnect and try again." I know this is false because just underneath the spot to add the apn, it clearly shows everything about the SIM so the toughbook is indeed reading the SIM. Add an Internet APN and make sure you have an active data plan." Well, we do have an active data plan so when I try to add an APN, it then says, "The cellular device is missing or not working properly. When I click the box to "Let Windows keep me connected", I get a message that says, "Can't connect to this network. We want Windows (We're running Win10 1803) to manage the connection but when I try to get it to connect, it just spins and never connects. Long story short, I'm having some issues getting our new Panasonic CF-31 Toughbooks to connect to the Verizon SIM.
